Putin has noted that Russia and Iran “are strengthening their cooperation in international security,” which contributes “considerably to resolving the Syrian crisis.”

For his part, Raisi has said he is hopeful that the Russian leader’s visit will serve to initiate “a decisive stage in the development of relations between the two countries, as well as further regional and international cooperation.” He also stressed that cooperation between the parties has facilitated greater security in the region, according to Mehr News Agency.
