The Galaxy Unpacked event for early 2023 is set to kick off today, February 1, at 8pm ET. Samsung will stream the event live on YouTube and other social media channels, and the event is expected to feature the launches of the company’s newest smartphone flagships – the Galaxy S23, S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra. Alongside these models, several other surprises are expected.
New Galaxy S23 phones not expected with major design changes
The main attractions are the three new phones, which are expected with minor design changes, but with improvements to the internal hardware, especially when it comes to the processor and camera. It has already been confirmed that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be used by Samsung on the new phones, but in a “special” version made only for the S23 series.
On the camera front, we only know that the Ultra model, the one that until now came with a 108-megapixel camera, comes with the new 200-megapixel image sensor, produced by Samsung itself. While other manufacturers are going in the direction of larger sensors with a lower pixel density, such as the 1″, Samsung believes that in order to take better night shots and more detailed images, it needs a higher resolution with more pixels to process.
A new version of Samsung’s One UI interface is also expected along with the new phones. This reaches version 5.1 and will also be based on Android 13, just like One UI 5, which debuted just a few months ago.
Given the recent rumors of new Samsung laptops, we might see a few new models at this Unpacked, but chances are slim that we’ll see them in retail stores in Romania, as Samsung isn’t officially bringing them here.
