The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has vindicated the “heroic” work of firefighting teams in Europe, as well as the aid mobilized at European level to help France, Portugal, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Albania.
In a message on social networks, the leader of the European Executive has had words of support for the firefighting teams that work in a “heroic” and “tireless” way against the advance of fires on the European continent.
In a summer with major fires, especially in southern Europe, Von der Leyen has put in value the European solidarity to support the work of extinction in different parts of the continent.
Faced with the fire that has already burned more than 7,000 hectares in southwestern France, the German conservative has thanked the help currently provided by Germany, Sweden, Greece, Italy, Poland, Romania and Austria to quell the flames.
France is watching with concern the evolution of the several fires that are still active, mainly because this Friday is expected the maximum peak of temperatures of the current heat wave.
