With Comic Con in New York City happening this weekend, Paramount has released a new trailer for the final season of Star Trek: Picard.
After previous teasers have largely focused on the nostalgia that the main cast of The Next Generation returning to the franchise might instill in fans, the new trailer finally offers significant details on the story of season three. Basically, you can now understand more of what’s to come in the new season.
What you can see in the official Star Trek: Picard third season trailer
The trailer begins with the prospect of the Star Fleet facing an entirely new threat in the form of an alien ship called the Shrike. In the following scenes you can see (now) Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (played by Sir Patrick Stewart) recruiting his old friends, some of them a little less willing to return, to take on this new villain, played by Amanda Plummer, who you already know from Pulp Fiction.
There’s a strong possibility that the new (and final) season will be the one that makes you feel most at home, since you’ll see characters like Worf, for example, but also how they’ve changed as the years have gone by Even more unexpected are the two “lightning bolt” appearances at the end of the trailer. Daniel Davis returns as hologram professor Moriarty, while Brent Spiner will play Data’s Android twin Lore.
In addition to a new trailer for Star Trek: Picard, Paramount has also shared new teasers for season five of Discovery, as well as the return of another series, Star Trek: Prodigy. The latter will debut on October 27, while the former is expected to arrive sometime next year (a specific release date is unknown).
You’ll be able to see the final season of Star Trek: Picard starting February 16, 2023.
