Tinder brings Festival Mode back, for quick matches to music events with a large audience

Almost forgotten after the pandemic measures became part of the norm, Festival Mode is back in the news, helping Tinder users find “something to do” even when they are not in the crowd, participating in music festivals held in various regions of the world, including Romania.

The functionality first activated in 2019 was available through the Explore tab of the Tinder smartphone app. Meeting enthusiasts who hoped to meet someone from the small but diverse circle of participants at the festival were more likely to get successful matches, with or without long-term continuity.

“Festival mode gives you the chance to go back there, meet new people and make friends before you arrive at the festival grounds. It’s a great, low-pressure way to make real-world connections again, ”said Kyle Miller, vice president of Tinder’s Product Innovation division.

According to Tinder statistics, 64% of single people say they like meeting new people at live music events.

Not coincidentally, the Tinder announcement for the reactivation of Festival Mode comes just as authorities around the world are signaling that they are ready to give up anti-pandemic measures once and for all, including requirements that decisively affected the discovery of interesting people during live encounters, such as a facial mask that turns you into an anonymous person, lost among other anonymous people.

In the first stage, Festival Mode is available (under slightly different names) in 10 countries (USA, Australia, France, Germany, Hungary, Norway, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands and the UK). Although Romania is the host of musical events with a tradition and a large number of participants, Tinder does not confirm the “help” for adventure enthusiasts, for now.
