This Japanese company builds your own mech –

Have you ever wanted your own mech? If you say no, I’m not sure we can be friends. If you say yes, Tsubame Industries, a start-up from Japan, might have you covered.

They recently developed the Archax, a giant 15-foot-tall, four-wheeled mech that looks like the Gundam suit of your dreams. Like any mech from a movie, video game or anime, the Archax can be controlled from inside. Cameras on the outside allow users to view the outside world and control the arms and hands with joysticks inside the fuselage.

It has two modes, upright robot mode and vehicle mode, where it travels up to 6 mph (wow!). Speaking to Reuters, the chief executive of Tsubame Industries said: “Japan is very good at animation, games, robots and cars, so I thought it would be great if I could make a product that compressed all these elements into one. I wanted to make something that says, ‘This is Japan.'”

Currently the plan is to build and sell five of these machines, but there is hope that in the future these robots can be used for better purposes such as disaster relief.
