As always, there was a lot to see at the International Radio Exhibition. (Image: IFA)
“Over 2,000 exhibitors presented themselves on an area of 130,000 square meters in 26 halls and attracted 182,000 visitors from 138 countries.” This is the summary of the IFA trade fair organizers.
Too much to see everything as an individual on just one or all days of IFA 2024. But that’s why you have us.
We were there for you and reported on the trade fair, even live in a stream on Friday evening. In this article we summarize our IFA highlights.
The 6 most exciting innovations at the trade fair
Tecno Pocket Go
Yes, this is a PC handheld, but where is the screen?
Let’s start the review with something curious. The Tecno Pocket Go is a gaming handheld. So far, so ordinary. However, it doesn’t have its screen flanged between the buttons and the stick, instead you put on video glasses – and that looks pretty cyberpunky.

Tecno Pocket Go hands-on – handheld PC with AR glasses
The technical data of the Tecno Pocket Go read as follows; all of it is in the controller itself
Technical data

- Operating system: Windows 11
- processor: AMD Ryzen 7 8840 HS
- Chart: AMD Radeon 780M
- RAM: 16 GB LPDDR5
- Storage capacity: 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD
- Battery: 50 Wh, replaceable
- Loading speed: not specified
- AR Pocket Vision: Up to 215 inch screen diagonal, Micro-OLED, USB-C
You’re probably wondering what advantages this has over a regular gaming handheld. In short:
- Better posture when playing because you don’t have to look down.
- No dedicated TV is necessary.
- The AR glasses can be used universally.
- Also suitable for people who wear glasses because of the diopter adjustment.

Acer Nitro Blaze 7

Nitro Blaze 7: Acer presents its own PC handheld
We go from an unusual handheld to a normal looking gaming PC on the hand. As expected, Acer showed off its contender in the battle for the handheld crown at IFA.
The Acer Nitro Blaze 7 sits between Asus ROG Ally, Lenovo Legion Go and MSI Claw. Built under the 7-inch Full HD IPS display are:
- an AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS
- Wi-Fi 6E
- up to 2TB storage
- 16GB RAM
- 50-Wh-Acku
- Windows 11 as the operating system
The specs read quite similar to the Asus ROG Ally. Visually, the device has a lively design that is reminiscent of the cockpit of a racing car with its stripes and lines.
Acer still owes us the price and release date. As soon as we get our hands on the Nitro Blaze 7, we will of course fire up the – be careful – Nitro and provide a test.
Acer Project DualPlay

You’ve never seen a notebook like this before: Acer is introducing a new dual-play concept
What happens when a gaming laptop and the Nintendo Switch kiss? Acer’s Project DualPlay, of course.
The idea behind the gaming laptop with a built-in controller is very simple: you no longer have to plug in a gamepad when you’re on the move if you want to play. Not to mention the fact that you always have the push button ready to hand wherever you go.
You’re probably wondering why the Switch had to be used for the stupid saying. Well, Acer has chosen the Japanese because the controller (which is also a touchpad) can be divided into two. So the two of you can play on your laptop.
Greetings from the Joy-Cons – hopefully without stick drift.
But don’t get excited too soon. As the name suggests, Project DualPlay is, well, a project. What you see above is just a prototype.
Our author Denis Brown also had a bone to pick with the laptop and controller; among other things, the pusher was simply too bulky. You can read his entire impression in the corresponding hands-on.
Samsung Odyssey 3D
Unfortunately not visible on the camera: the 3D effect.
There was literally something to see at the Samsung stand. The Koreans had created a modification of their popular Odyssey monitor – with 3D. Glasses-free, of course.
Just like it once was with the Nintendo 3DS The monitor gains depth of field through face or head tracking and brings 2D material into the third dimension. Compared to 3D glasses, this offers several advantages:
- The image quality does not suffer
- Glasses make moving images muddier and blurrier.
- No glasses, no additional costs
But even the 3D monitor from Samsung is not without reproach, as our editors discovered on site in the hands-on.
- Content must be designed for impact; Currently there are only two games that support this (Inzoi and Lies of P).
- 3D is strenuous for the eyes over time.
Many people want 3D on television back, as you can read under this column. Samsung’s Odyssey 3D is still only a prototype, but Linh and Maxe still have a detailed first impression of the IFA for you. Only time will tell whether it actually goes on sale. In any case, eye drops are already ready.
Honor Magic V3

Honor Magic V3 vs. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5
“Will that work?” We all asked ourselves the question when the first foldable cell phone, the Royole Flexpay, was introduced in 2018. What initially seemed unique has now established itself in the market – and is currently resulting in millions of reservations for the first double-folding cell phone.
Whether it works or works twice remains to be seenbecause one thing the Honor Magic V3 is for sure: damn thin. This not only impressed Maxe, who was inclined to trade in his iPhone immediately, but also Foldable owner Jusuf. You can see what a Schmalhans the flip phone really is in the video above.
Mobile phone by day, tablet by night: the Honor Magic V3.
Now the Honor Magic V3 is not the first foldable, but it is definitely the thinnest. You can read what’s under the hood in the technical data.

To hopefully confirm our first impression and to answer questions like “does the fold become more visible the longer you use the cell phone?”, we have already ordered a test device.
You’ll soon find out from us how the Honor Magic V3 works in everyday life or whether it’s all just lazy magic.
Ray-Ban Meta-Smartglasses
Yusuf has swapped his boring glasses for smart glasses. Both suit him well.
We’re ending our most exciting innovations from IFA 2024 the way we started them: with a bird of paradise. We stick to watching according to the 3D monitor and the flip phone.
Glasses are not high-tech devices – unless it’s the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. With these you can:
- Listen to music
- Take photos
- Record videos
- Livestreamen
Reads like a James Bond gadget. By pressing a button on the frame, you can take a picture or an entire video – exactly what you see.
The big advantage: Your hands are free. In other words: On vacation you can enjoy the view and still take a snapshot, without having your cell phone screen in front of your face. The same applies if you want to record a video but need to have both hands free.
The smart glasses are of course not only available as sunglasses, but also with self-tinting lenses.
Listening to music almost becomes a minor matter (Even if it sounds completely bananas to enjoy your favorite songs with glasses). However, the smart glasses are in line with the IFA trend towards open-ear headphones – including gesture control via the temple.
Technical data
Tap to expand
- Camera: 12MP ultra wide with 1080p resolution
- Audio version: Open-ear headphones in the temples
- Audio recording: 5 microphones
- Livestream: up to 30 minutes
- Battery life: up to 36 hours
- Internal memory: 32 GB
- Connections: WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2
- Miscellaneous: IPX4 certification (splash-proof)
The clever nose bike is available in three editions including different styles and colors. Diopter lenses naturally fit into the frame and cost from 329 euros.
We are looking forward to a long-term testwhich will show how much James Bond really is in the glasses or whether it turns out to be just a gimmick.
These were our most exciting highlights of the 100th IFA. There was so much to see that we could have easily doubled or tripled the number. Luckily, 2025 will be IFA again. We will be there, will you too?
