The world’s most powerful rocket will attempt to launch this afternoon –

Elon Musk’s aerospace engineering firm, SpaceX, plans to make history this afternoon as the company plans to launch the most powerful rocket ever in a few hours. Known as Starship, this rocket is said to be about 120 meters tall and have a thrust that is almost double that of any other rocket in history.

The launch will be held on April 17 at 14:00 BST / 15:00 CEST, and will be completed in Boca Chica, Texas, with the goal of seeing the rocket explode and complete a single Earth orbit before returning to the planet’s surface.

Since this will be the rocket’s first trip, the likelihood of some kind of failure is high, and SpaceX’s CEO, Musk, made this clear in a tweet that simply stated: “Success maybe, excitement guaranteed.”

Musk also elaborated on this in a recent Twitter Spaces chat where he added: “If we launch, I would consider anything that does not result in the destruction of the launch pad itself a victory.”

With the launch scheduled for early afternoon, tune in here to watch the launch live.
