Fans have been waiting a long time for The Wolf Among Us 2, but Telltale Games has confirmed that the wait for the highly anticipated sequel will be even longer than previously expected. The game has been delayed beyond 2023, with the developer confirming that this decision was made in part to avoid overtime while delivering an experience that meets expectations.
Another factor that has contributed to the delay is a switch to a new engine. Speaking with IGN, Telltale Games CEO Jamie Ottilie confirmed the same. The game was originally developed on Unreal Engine 4 from 2020, but Ottilie reveals that The Wolf Among Us 2 recently switched to Unreal Engine 5. As a result, “a lot of work” that had already been done needs to be redone with the new engine.
The Wolf Among Us 2 is now expected to be released in 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and PC, with all episodes being developed together, unlike its predecessor. Telltale also has The Expanse: A Telltale Series in development along with Deck Nine, which is expected to be released this summer.
