The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office denounces 136 children killed and 199 injured by Russian attacks in the country

The Ukrainian Children’s Prosecutor’s Office has reported that at least 136 children have died and more than 199 have been injured in attacks carried out by Russia since the beginning of its invasion of the country, on February 24, until this Saturday.

Most of the child victims, counting deaths and injuries, have been recorded in the capital region, kyiv, with 64, followed by Donetsk, with 50, followed by Kharkov (44), Chernigov (38), Kherson (20). ), Zaporizhia (20), Zhytomyr (15) and Sumy (14).

Likewise, the Prosecutor’s Office has denounced that 570 educational institutions have suffered material damage since the beginning of the invasion, 73 of which have been completely destroyed.

Most schools have been hit in the Donetsk region, on the country’s eastern front, where 138 have been hit by Russian strikes. Approximately 41 schools in the capital kyiv region have also been affected.

The United Nations has registered 2,788 civilian victims in Ukraine since Russia launched its military offensive on February 24, including 1,081 deaths, including 93 children, although the organization itself understands that the real figure will be “considerably higher.”
