The next Tuesday, December 12 at 11.30 a.m.at Plaza del Siglo, 2, Malaga, ONCE Foundation, together with Inserta Empleo, and OXO Videogame Museum will present the new accessibility corner which from now on will be available in the exhibition space.
Thus, the project ‘Ga11y, accessible videogames’ of ONCE Foundation will have a permanent space which will be located on the upper floor of the museum, in the OXO Labs areaa place where the different technologies to come and the variants that exist to date will be exhibited. It will showcase the tools that will make it easier for people with disabilities to access their favorite video games.
In addition, and with the aim of bringing employment closer to young people with disabilities who visit the corner, two technicians from Inserta Empleo will come to this space a couple of times a week to inform them of the services offered, free of charge, the labor intermediation entity of ONCE Foundation.
The presentation event will be attended by General Secretary of Fundación ONCE and Inserta Empleo and Director of Transformation, Excellence and Equality of Fundación ONCE, Virginia Carcedo.; the general manager of OXO Museo del Videojuego; Javier Arbósthe CEO of Kaiju Entertainment, Javier Ramosand regional director of Inserta Empleo in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, Francisco López Aguado.
The corner of the project Ga11y, accessible video games is integrated in the technological innovation environment within OXO Video Game Museum. as one of the new forms of play.
The space allows all visitors to learn about the use of controllers and tools that help people with disabilities to enjoy video games. in the same way as with the native development of each title. A necessary step within the industry and that allows everyone to know directly the use and adaptation of these with a single purpose: fun.
Ga11y’, accessible videogames
‘Ga11y, accessible video games’ is a project with which the ONCE Foundation wants to promoteamong this important economic and leisure sector, the inclusion of accessibility parameters so that all people can enjoy video games.
As the backbone of the project, the following has been developed. web page which includes several sections such as news on the accessibility of video games, events, peripherals and a catalog with a search option that can be parameterized according to the profile and type of disability as well as information on the possibilities of adaptation, both software (video games) and hardware (peripherals and consoles), offered by video games.
The presence of Inserta Empleo in this meeting is part of the state programs FSE+ ‘Youth Employment’ (CCI 2021ES05SFPR001) and ‘Social Inclusion, child guarantee and fight against poverty’ (2021ES05SFPR003) being developed by ONCE Foundation through Inserta Empleo, with co-financing from the European Union to increase training and employment of people with disabilities.
