Amazon is determined to generate buzz for its hit series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which includes a new trailer.
The three-minute clip sheds much more light on the story and sets the stage for Sauron’s appearance. While the series will begin by highlighting the relative peace of Middle-earth’s second era, it quickly becomes clear that Sauron is returning – and that the factions will have to unite if they hope to stop the Dark Lord.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will debut September 2 on Prime Video
As the title indicates, the series will focus on the oh-so-crucial Rings of Power. You can also expect to learn more about the rise and fall of the island nation of Númenor.
Based on The Lord of the Rings and its appendices, The Rings of Power series, which will run on Prime Video, has been adapted for television by J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay. Amazon has made a $1 billion commitment for five seasons of the series, which will cover the time period known as The Second Age.
The prequel will feature the return of Elrond and Galadriel, with Game of Thrones’ Robert Aramayo and His Dark Materials’ Morfydd Clark playing younger versions of the original characters. The Rings of Power also features an impressive cast of actors from around the world playing elves, dwarves, humans and older versions of the Hobbit known as Harfoots.
The Rings of Power debuts September 2 on Prime Video. The production budget is reported, as mentioned, to be a hefty $1 billion. Amazon expects the Lord of the Rings saga to be a success and is willing to spend lavishly on both production and marketing.
