The latest Borderlands comic has connections to Borderlands 4

If you’ve been following Borderlands in all its media in anticipation of the release of Borderlands 4, you may be aware of Moxxi’s Mysterious Memento. In the story by Dark Horse Comics, the Siren Amara attempts to regain her fame with an appearance by Moxxi in recovering a mysterious artifact.

The story turns into a typical Borderlands mess of mayhem, but with the upcoming fourth and final issue, we apparently get a tease of Borderlands 4. This comes via Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford, who wrote that we will see some connections to the newest game via the comic.

The synopsis for the comic tells us that *spoiler warning* Amara and her friends discover Moxxi’s artifact, but discover it is fake. Only then do they see that the real treasure is a mecha built by the late great mechanic Scooter.

Scooter met his end in the game Tales from the Borderlands, but perhaps his spirit lives on in this robot. As a fan favorite character, we wouldn’t be surprised if Gearbox figured out a way to bring him back. After all, it seems Lilith is around in some capacity after her sacrifice in Borderlands 3.
