The II Teleco Esports Tournament promotes young talent and career opportunities among telecommunications students



The Official College of Telecommunications Technical Engineers (COITT) and the Association of Graduates and Technical Engineers of Telecommunications (AEGITT),together with UNIVERSITY Esportscelebrated the grand finale of the II Teleco Esports Tournament, a competition that unites university talent with the professional world of gaming and telecommunications.

With the support of the State Council of Telecommunications Students (CEET) and leading companies such as Telefónica and NTT Data, this initiative seeks to encourage technological vocations and bring new professional opportunities to future telecommunications engineers.

FundaciónTelefónica’s Campus 42 Madrid, renowned for its innovative and disruptive approach to technological training, was the setting for a vibrant final in which the teams Telecos Peek and the Ship faced each other in an intense game of VALORANT. Strategy, technical skill and team spirit marked a day full of emotion, broadcasted live and followed by hundreds of online viewers.

Attendees also enjoyed raffles and technological gifts, generating an immersive experience that combines training, entertainment and professional projection.

A tournament that promotes young talent in a booming sector.

During February and March, 21 university teams from all over Spain competed in a qualifying phase that culminated in the decisive playoffs, held on April 5, 2010.

The Telecos Peek team won a prize of €2,000, while the members of El Barco were finalists and received BOSE QuietComfort headphones in recognition of their great performance.

Gaming, studies and professional future: a winning combination

The Teleco Esports Tournament is part of a strategic commitment of COITT/AEGITT so that students can live a complete experience: academic, recreational and professional. The aim is that those who are trained in telecommunications find in initiatives like this a way to strengthen their skills, integrate into the professional community and discover new opportunities in growing sectors such as gaming.

We want students to feel part of a community that accompanies them in their training and professional development, providing them with opportunities and the leap into the working world. Besides, studying telecoms can also be fun. This tournament is an example of how technology and entertainment can go hand in hand.

The tournament is part of the program UNIVERSITY Esportsthe only esports league in the university environment in our country that has already had the participation of more than 4,500 students in Spain and that at international level reaches more than 100,000 university students in 26 countries and 4 continents.

Esports and employability: a sector with a future

With a labor market in constant expansion, the gaming sector in Spain has generated nearly 9,000 jobs, of which 40% are under 30 years old and have technological profiles. In addition, the female presence reaches 24.3%, exceeding the European average. It is expected to reach 13,000 professionals in the industry by 2025, consolidating it as one of the major drivers of entertainment and technological innovation in the next decade.
