In this area, Galerius fought countless battles, and in 293 AD. he is sent to suppress the uprising in Egypt. After many victories, he received the titles of Thebaicus and Aegypticus. However, the most significant victory will be in Persia, against the Sassnis.

The Dacian cowboy who became emperor of Rome

In order to pursue his interest and gain Diocletian’s trust even more, Galerius leaves his wife and marries the emperor’s daughter. Galerius is driven by the ambition to become Augustus, the Roman emperor.

After Diocletian died in 305 AD, his dream came true and he ruled until 311 AD, becoming fully involved in the politics of the empire. During his reign, he applied austerity measures to the Romans, raising taxes, as a kind of revenge on his ancestors.

Lancantius also wrote that the emperor Galerius wanted to establish a Dacian Empire instead of the Roman one, being a real shock for both the Senate and the people.

“A long time ago, when he gained sovereign power, he declared himself an enemy of the Roman name and proposed that the empire be called the Dacian Empire,” wrote the same Roman author.
