The first Esports and Phygital Sports Festival is held in Việt Nam.

Some 5,500 contestants are taking part in the first Việt Nam Esports and Phygital Sports Festival. which opened yesterday, January 6 at the Bắc Ninh Sports University in Bắc Ninh province.

During the two-day event they will compete for 108 medals in. four esports disciplines (E-football Pro, NBA2k; Audition, Battle Teams); phygital sports (a combination of E-football and indoor soccer; and NBA 2K and basketball 2×2); simulated sports (e-golf; virtual reality Mission X) and digital entertainment sports (recsports, dance, tegball and calisthenics…).

E-sports have grown strongly worldwide. E-sports were not recognized in Vietnam in the past and suffered criticism. Over the years, they have become popular in the country.

Trường himself commented that Vietnam’s e-sports team won four gold and three silver medals at the 31st SEA Games, topping the table. A year later they won one gold, two silvers and four bronzes at the 32nd SEA Games.

According to Trường, EPS24. will link physical activities and technical sports.

In addition, soccer players of the Vietnamese national team will take part in a tegball match. Tegball is one of the sports to be played at the first Esports and Phygital Sports Festival Việt Nam.

Phygital sports are a combination of physical and digital sports. With the slogan ‘Determination, Innovation, Creativity, Pioneering Digital Transformation’, we hope the festival will popularize e-sports and digital sports.

Representatives from the International e-Sports Federation will also attend to participate in discussions on teaching e-sports at university.

At the event, gamers and fans will also have the opportunity to try their hand at e-sports. The event is organized by VIRESA, the Vietnam Olympic Committee, the Hanoi Sports and Entertainment Association and other partners.
