With The Game Awards now just a few hours away, one of the key announcements seems to have leaked. Embark Studios’ upcoming free-to-play multiplayer shooter THE FINALS could get a surprise release during the event.
As noted by a user on Reddit, THE FINALS’ official website was seemingly updated recently, with a “play now” prompt at the bottom of the main page indicating that the game is now playable. The update appears to have been reversed, and the page now shows links for adding the game to your wish list and re-watching the trailer, although users on Reddit claim that many in the official THE FINALS Discord server have also seen the brief change to the website, and that moderators in the server have removed screenshots of the same shared by users. In any case, you can see a screenshot below.
One possible explanation is that Embark Studios accidentally pushed the website update too early, and the game may be bound for a surprise full release that will be announced in a few hours during The Game Awards.
THE FINALS was announced last year by Embark Studios, owned by Nexon, while the game also recently had an open beta played by more than 7.5 million players.
Whenever it launches, THE FINALS will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
