The upcoming post-apocalyptic open world MMO The Day Before from Fntastic and MyTona has been facing controversy and skepticism for some time, and its release has also been delayed for several reasons, one of which is that its name is at the center of a trademark dispute.
However, it appears that the game’s name will be changed. About a month ago, Fntastic filed a new trademark for Dayworld with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, with the trademark covering categories such as “downloadable game software; downloadable computer games from a global computer network; and downloadable computer games for use on mobile devices.” The trademark could indicate that The Day Before’s name will be changed to Dayworld.
If that is indeed the game’s new name, it should presumably be announced in the near future, especially given that it is currently scheduled for a November release.
Funnily enough, as noted by PCGamesN, Dayworld is also the name of a trilogy of novels written by Philip José Farmer, so the new name chosen by Fntastic could possibly be headed for another trademark dispute.
Whatever the game is called, it is scheduled for release on Nov. 10 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. There will also be a beta before the release.
