The past year has been tough for Ukraine, following Russia’s invasion, and developers like Frogwares have suffered the consequences. It recently released Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, but as 2022 began, it planned to make a “totally different game” that would require everyone in the office to work together, as they always do, according to a new post on the Steam Community.
After the war began, the team “found solace in the story of Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. A story of one man planning to bring supernatural horror to the rest of the world (and who says art doesn’t imitate life?). Creating this game for you, our fans, has helped us through difficult times.” With the project completed, Frogwares now moves on to its “next dream project,” although we will learn more “at the appropriate time.”
Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. It is a remake of the developer’s 2007 horror-mystery in which Holmes and Watson investigate mysterious disappearances. Eventually they come in contact with the Cthulhu Mythos, and the famous detective’s sanity begins to falter (which plays a role in the new mechanics).
In addition to modernized graphics and animations, the remake has more story content and side missions.
