TEKKEN 8 returns as the latest title announced for the upcoming Esports World Cup 2025 tournament. The announcement was made on X via the official Esports World Cup account, much to the excitement of fans and esports players alike.
The popular fighting game also participated in last year’s tournament. Only this year it will be much bigger, as 40 clubs will participate in the Partner Club Program and professionals from all over the world will compete.
I am extremely happy that Tekken is returning for Esports World Cup 2025. I visited Esports World Cup 2024 as a spectator, but now I would like to come as a commentator.

Some have already responded to the announcement with enthusiasm. Teams such as Twisted Minds, Ninjas In Pyjamas and DRX Esports have announced their participation and preparations for the event.
It is important to note that TEKKEN 8 EWC 2024 featured 32 of the world’s top players competing individually, rather than in teams. Although players will represent various organizations, the tournament will not have team competitions.
Last year it was won by South Korea’s Lim “Ulsan” Soo-hoon of DN Freecs, who confirmed in an online response that he will “repeat this year” and is “aiming for the trophy again.” Ulsan emerged victorious playing the Dragunov character, which earned him a cash prize of $300,000. He was also awarded MVP in Tekken 8, which brought him another $50,000.
The Esports World Cup 2025 tournament is expected to host 25 different games, old and new, with popular esports titles such as Apex Legends, Overwatch 2 and many more. With the announcement of TEKKEN 8, only one more game remains to be announced, but it’s shaping up to be a pretty stacked lineup in what could be the biggest esports event to date.
