The golf ball that decided Tiger Woods’ victory at the 1997 Masters tournament has been auctioned off and sold for a whopping $64,124, according to Reuters.
Woods gave the ball to a young fan, Julian Nexsen. After holding the ball for more than 20 years, Nexsen auctioned it on March 27, with bidding starting at $500.
The 1997 Masters ball may have fetched such a high price because it was Woods’ first of 15 major tournament victories. Woods was 21 at the time and won the tournament by a record margin of 12 strokes, becoming the youngest golfer to win at Augusta National.
