Seven preschool children have been taken to hospital this Friday after a car hit them at a crosswalk in the city of Ginowan, on the island of Okinawa, southern Japan.
Local police said the vehicle reportedly crossed when the traffic light was red, hitting the children, the ‘Mainichi’ newspaper reported.
According to emergency services, the children remain conscious and have no serious injuries at this time.
Police officers arrested the driver, Yuka Ikehara, 21, at the scene on suspicion of negligent driving, NHK has learned.
