The judge in charge of theRipple vs SEC authorizes theregulatory agency American to make an appeal request of the recent decisionconsidered historic in the crypto ecosystem, on XRP.
According to Fortunejudge Analisa Torres authorized the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to file an appeal challenging his decision on cryptocurrency XRP.
Last month, the United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York ruled that the token issued by Ripple could not be considered a security when sold to the general public on an exchange.
La SEC announced that it would file a request to appeal the decision. The San Francisco-based fintech subsequently asked the judge to reject the federal agency’s anticipated motion.
The legal battlewhich has now been going on for over 2 years, seems far from over. In addition to this potential appeal, the case is also expected to go before a jury.
On Wednesday, on X, the head of Ripple tried to reassure investors and declared that the SEC appeal request did not change the fact that XRP was not a title (security), even if the application is accepted.
