The Russian Presidency stressed this Friday that it will respond to the sanctions announced by Western countries in response to the military invasion of Ukraine and has indicated that it will analyze whether it does so “symmetrically or asymmetrically”.

“Of course, there will be countermeasures,” Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov said. “To what extent these would be symmetric or asymmetric, this will depend on the analysis, all these restrictions must be analyzed,” he added.

In this sense, he has emphasized that the Russian authorities will analyze all the announced sanctions and will act in line with the country’s interests, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.

Earlier this Friday, the Russian authorities announced restrictions on their airspace for British or UK-registered companies in response to the sanctions imposed by London on Thursday.
