Rocket League announces new format for RLCS 2025

Psyonix, the developer of the title, has unveiled a new format for the 2025 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) season.. The 2025 RLCS will feature two major events and a prize pool of $5M, plus the inclusion of a 1vs1 format.

Changes to the RLCS format will increase opportunities for fans, players and teams to compete. The total event prize pool has increased $700,000 from the $4.3M that will be offered during the 2024 season.

The competition for 1vs1 will be held in conjunction with the 3vs3 competition. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 128 players from Europe, the top 64 from the South America region and the top 32 from the Asia-Pacific region.

Along with the arrival of the 1vs1 competition, Psyonix has revealed that. there will be last chance qualifiers between the second Major and the season-ending World Championship. One team, from each of the four regions, will qualify for the World Championship based on their performance in the previous Majors.

As a result of last chance qualifiers, the total number of teams competing in the World Championship will increase from 16 to 20. 2024 has already been a year of expansion for Rocket League esports, as it added ten new teams to the esports section of its in-game store in February 2024.
