President Trump expected to extend TikTok’s sales deadline by another 90 days -.

One of Joe Biden’s last acts as president of the United States was to force the Chinese ByteDance to remove TikTok from the United States or instead sell the platform to a new owner not based in the Asian country. This decision led many TikTok creators to worry about their livelihoods, but then Biden’s tenure came to an end and one of President Donald Trump’s first moves was to extend the sale deadline by 90 days to give more time to strike a deal.

However, 90 days passed and then Trump was under pressure again, so he decided to offer a new lifeline with an additional 90-day extension. This also passed, and now Trump is expected to give another 90-day extension for the sale, meaning it will be 3/4 years from when the sale would be completed by the time this last extension ends.

This comes from CNN, which states that “Trump’s latest delay in enforcement raises questions about the status of a deal that could secure TikTok’s long-term future in the United States. The Chinese government has given little public indication that it would be willing to approve a sale, except to suggest that a deal might not include TikTok’s “algorithm,” called the app’s secret sauce.

So yes, the question is whether this deal will come around and whether Trump will put the thumbscrews on ByteDance and China over the sale.
