Vital : A new hero like no other
For the new season of Overwatch 2, Blizzard has unveiled a new character that will be hard to miss. A support character with elegant, refined looks, this new arrival is the first pansexual character introduced to the free-to-play FPS.
Beyond his remarkably finished physical appearance, Vital or Lifeweaver comes with a number of abilities that are as interesting as they are puzzling. It’s fair to say that he breaks with the promises of philosophical changes made by the publishers with the introduction of this Season 4. If players were hoping to be rid of the stun abilities of the first game, Vital follows in the footsteps of the first game’s stuns and CCs.
Indeed, Vital features three basic abilities that will undoubtedly help more than one player during intense battles. Added to this are two weapons, an ultimate ability and a passive to fill out your Support hero palette.
Ultimate ability | Abilities | Passive | Weapons
Tree of Life | Places a tree that instantly heals its party members as it grows, then continues healing while it’s alive. | Platform of petals | Launches a platform that rises when a character lands on it | Farewell gift | Drops a gift that heals the first allied or opposing character who picks it up | care flower | Heals a friendly target |
Regenerating momentum | Runs in the targeted direction and heals slightly | Pile of Thorns | Launches a volley of projectiles
saving grip | Pulls an ally to its position while protecting it during its movement |
However, it’s hard to see Vital as a healer in the same way as Baptiste, Kiriko or Moira. Although he has healing abilities, Vital is a support hero more focused on benefiting his team than healing them.
This makes Vital a character with which to ruin opposing actions in style. His main ability, the “petal platform”, will enable you to reach new heights in combat or annihilate enemy ripostes. He also sets himself apart from other Support heroes by the sheer scale of the damage he can cause. With this character and others to come in the coming months, one thing is certain: Overwatch 2 season 4 has plenty of surprises in store.
