Oscars voters reveal they didn’t even watch Dune: Part Two -.

The Academy Awards or the Oscars take place this weekend, and it looks like Conclave, The Brutalist and Emilia Pérez are all set to take home some awards. However, one film that is notably absent from many categories is Dune: Part Two, and it may be that Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic was avoided simply because voters didn’t watch it.

In an interview with EW, four anonymous Academy Awards voters revealed that they had not even seen the film. “I couldn’t get through the first dune; I’m in no hurry to play another three hours of Dune.” said one voter. All four voters abstained from placing Dune: Part Two on their ballots for Best Picture.

If this seems a little strange to you, another eyebrow-raising moment from this article is about Ralph Fiennes, who has a chance to win Best Actor thanks to his excellent performance in Conclave. However, two voters did not vote for him because they thought he had already won an Oscar for Schindler’s List, and instead voted for The Brutalist star Adrien Brody. Fiennes has not yet won an Oscar. Brody has.

We’re not sure where the Academy gets these film experts, but it’s clear they could learn a little more about the candidates for awards and how to watch a movie that happens to be a little long. Someone call the guy who watched Dune 50 times in IMAX, because it seems like he would be better suited as a voter.
