Oppo Find X6 Pro has the best smartphone camera of the moment

The DxOMark rankings, which keep track of smartphone camera performance, have a new “champion”. Freshly launched in China, and set to remain exclusive to that region, the Oppo Find X6 Pro is now the phone with the best performing camera on the market. It overtakes the Honor Magic5 Pro, which had been “crowned” just a few weeks ago, and thus pushes models like the Pixel 7 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro one place behind in the rankings.

Oppo Find X6 Pro outperforms Honor and Huawei

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is yet another of the phones that benefits from a main camera with a 1″ sensor. This one, however, is equipped with Hasselblad technology, along with Oppo’s proprietary image processor, called MariSilicon X. We’ve tested phones with Hasselblad and MariSilicon in the past, and the results have been good to very good, with the OnePlus 11 managing to impress mainly due to the rather average specs of its cameras.

In DxOMark tests, the Oppo Find X6 Pro stood out for capturing excellent detail in all situations, regardless of the camera used, or lighting conditions. All three cameras use 50-megapixel sensors, and even video performance was above expectations. Incidentally, stabilization on video is a big advantage of Oppo, something many smartphone manufacturers fail to perfect.

Other advantages would be very fast focusing in all situations, low image noise and natural bokeh effect, thanks to the large sensor on the main camera and the large aperture lens diaphragm.

This seems to be one of the drawbacks, however, as in multi-person shots at various distances, those in the background are more “blurry” as the depth of field is limited around the person the focus is on. Then, Oppo seems to have not solved some exposure issues, as sometimes they are not calculated correctly, and what you see on the screen before you take the photo is not always what you will get in the final result.

Even so, the Oppo Find X6 Pro scores a 153 in DxOMark, its highest ever, and just one point above Honor’s Magic5 Pro. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to confirm these tests, as there’s little chance that Oppo will bring this phone, even for testing, to Romania.
