Operators are shutting down 3G networks to make room for 5G. Hundreds of car models will be affected

Telecom operators around the world are starting to shut down 3G networks to make room in the radio spectrum for 5G networks. This transition will affect not only very old phones and tablets, but also hundreds of car models, including newer ones.

Several manufacturers, including Toyota, Audi, BMW and Porsche, have posted advertisements on their websites warning their customers about this. For example, the Audi A3 models produced between 2013 and 2016 will lose, in several markets, access to services such as: Google Voice Search, Weather, information about flights or parking. This data was obtained through 3G mobile networks.

We present, below, the lists of car models, from popular manufacturers in Romania, which will be affected by the closure of 3G networks in the US. It is very possible that the hardware included in the European versions will be identical.
