OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earphones launched with improved performance and familiar design

Launched almost two years ago, the Buds Pro series impressed with its audio performance and exterior appearance, making it quite difficult for OnePlus engineers to differentiate the successor Buds Pro 2. So instead of reinventing the wheel, the manufacturer stuck with the already familiar design, working to improve the experience offered to users who choose the upgrade path to the new model.

Framed at the top end of the OnePlus manufacturer’s range and expected to be priced comparably to the model it replaces (approx. 150 euros), the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earphones come as an ideal match for the new flagship OnePlus 11.

Like the Enco X2 model launched by Oppo mid last year, the Buds Pro 2 earphones use a dual 11mm and 6mm driver configuration for the most even coverage of the entire audio frequency spectrum. Also, the chipset used supports spatial audio technology and high-res processing using the LHDC 4.0 codec.

Optimised for greater efficiency, the ANC function will be able to attenuate ambient noise by up to 45dB, achieved by applying adaptive algorithms that take into account the intensity and type of ambient noise. Each headset has three microphones, facing in different directions to allow the voice to be separated and ‘cleaned’ from unwanted ambient noise.

As for the battery life offered, the Buds Pro 2 headphones should last 6 hours or 22 hours on successive charges using the carrying case. The battery life can be increased to 10 hours or 39 hours by deactivating the ANC function. The manufacturer also mentions the possibility of recovering up to 10 hours of battery life with just 10 minutes of charging, but this could be just charging the carrying case, not the time spent waiting for the actual charging of the headphones.

The carrying case can be charged both via USB-C and wirelessly, for example, by simply sitting on the back of a reverse-charging equipped smartphone.

The list is completed with support for Google Fast Pair technology, Bluetooth 5.2 and IP55 certification for water and dust protection. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earphones will be available in color versions on white, black and green.
