Motorola Razr 2022 and Edge X30 Pro launch postponed to next week

This week, Motorola was supposed to announce its new flagship models for the second half of the year, but tensions between the US and China over Taiwan have led to the postponement of those plans. The event scheduled for August 2 in China was postponed at the last minute, but we now have new information on when the new Motorola Razr 2022 and Moto Edge X30, will be officially announced.

Motorola phones should have been announced days ago already

Next week is shaping up to be busier than expected. Samsung will hold its annual “Unpacked” event on August 10, where it will most likely show off its new phones with foldable screens, while Motorola will even announce a contender for one of these the next day, on August 11. The event that was supposed to take place on the 2nd has thus been moved a week and two days later, so as not to overlap with Samsung’s.

This launch could be one of the most important for Motorola’s smartphone lineup in recent years, as it will bring to market its first foldable smartphone with high-end hardware, as the other Razr models in recent years have been based on mid-range chipsets.

Then the Moto X30 Pro, which will arrive in other regions as the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra, will be the first smartphone on the market to use a 200-megapixel camera sensor. It’s one of Samsung’s ISOCELL models announced in recent years, which should offer improved performance especially in low light, thanks to pixel binning technologies.

Unfortunately, we don’t know when Motorola will release these phones outside of China. In recent years, since Lenovo has pretty much dropped its main brand for the phone market and used the Motorola brand exclusively, China has been the main country where the company’s new top models have been launched. In the West, Motorola models usually arrive a few months late.
