Motorola’s bet made almost exclusively on the Moto G series has helped, to a point, boosting the company’s global sales. Soon, Motorola may also have a competent alternative to the Galaxy Ultra in the form of a new Edge model, complete with a stylus insertable into the body of the phone.
Aimed mostly at Western markets, such as the US, the new Moto Edge comes to expand Motorola’s phone offerings, which are perhaps focused too much on the mid-range and entry-level range. Apparently, Motorola is negotiating to promote the new smartphone directly with US mobile operators, with names such as Mobile, Verizon, AT&T, US Cellular, Cricket Wireless and Tracfone mentioned as possible partners for inclusion in subscription offerings. But even the temptation of the subscription “bargain” might not be enough to entice consumers attracted to the Galaxy S23, or even the budget S21 FE model. In other words, Motorola needs to come up with a really tempting offer on the specs side as well.
Identified with the codename “Geneva”, the device also falling in the mid-range range looks like it will have 6GB RAM and 256GB internal storage in the base trim. While the rest of the specs remain a mystery, we’re learning through rumours that the phone will have a perforated screen next to the camera and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the side of the case. The camera will have two main sensors at the back.
Unlike other phones in the Motorola Edge series, the stylus might not come as a separate accessory on the new model.
