Monopoly players lose their minds after figuring out a lost rule –

Monopoly players just realize there’s a hidden rule they don’t already know, and it changes the way we look at the often friendship-destroying game.

Basically, the rule goes like this: if you land on a property that is not owned by another player, you can buy that property for the listed price. However, if you refuse, the banker auctions the property to the highest bidder. You can join that bidding war for the chance to get the property at a lower rate.

Most home games, at least according to r/CasualUK, do not adopt this rule, and figuring it out has led to quite a bit of outrage. If you have ever played a Monopoly video game, you are probably more aware of this rule because it is enforced in every game. If you think about it, auctions can actually make the infamous long board game move a little faster, because properties can be bought up much faster, allowing players to get to the more anger-inducing parts faster.
