Xiaomi released the first version of MIUI in 2013, and it took a mere 12 years for Xiaomi’s interpretation of the Android experience to reach its more than 564 million monthly active users. Officially, MIUI 14 is just another skin applied to the latest version of Android. In practice, the difference is a bit bigger than that, with UI-level optimizations being followed up with many other optimizations targeting the Android “guts”.
Xiaomi says this is the most optimized and efficient MIUI to date, and it starts with Project Razor. The team behind MIUI 14 has updated the Android architecture down to the Kernel level, optimizing multiple aspects of Android, from CPU and GPU optimization to memory resources.
Xiaomi claims that MIUI 14 is 60% more efficient compared to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra firmware.
The new functionality will be available for both tablet devices and recent generation smartphones:
- Xiaomi 12S Ultra
- Xiaomi 12S Pro
- Xiaomi 12S
- Xiaomi 12 Pro
- Xiaomi 12 Pro Dimensity Edition
- Xiaomi 12
- Xiaomi Mix Fold 2
- Redmi K50 Pro
- Redmi K50
- Redmi K50 Ultra
- Redmi K50 Gaming Edition
- Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4
- Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro
- Xiaomi Pad 5
- Redmi Pad
The list of improvements continues with customizable folders and new widgets. Less noticeable might be the options for advanced file collection management, starting with automatic compression for apps that aren’t actively used and disabling permanent notifications.
