Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Responds to Lack of Imagery – That’s Gaming

This year is already jam-packed with big releases, from recent hits like Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4 Remake to upcoming blockbusters like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Of course, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is also on the list as it prepares for a fall 2023 release.

But after its reveal two years ago, developer Insomniac Games has not shown any new footage or gameplay details. In response to a Twitter user who asked why they aren’t showing anything, the developer said, “Because we’re in the kitchen. It smells nice in there, but we’re just asking for a little more patience.”

With rumors that Sony will host a PlayStation Showcase in June for the Summer Game Fest, the PS5-exclusive game could be there. It could reveal the first gameplay footage and maybe even the release date. Such a marketing campaign months before the game’s release is nothing new – just look at other first-party PlayStation titles like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West.

As consolation, actor Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Peter Parker, confirmed that his motion capture work is “done,” which may mean that development is in its final stages. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
