Mafia 5 possibly already on its way to Pre-production, according to job openings – That’s Gaming

Hangar 13 confirmed last year that it had begun development on the next game in the Mafia franchise, but the developer could also be plotting what the next few years will look like for its flagship franchise after the launch of Mafia 4 (or whatever it will be called). It was reported last May that the studio also wanted a fifth installment to be greenlit so it could begin development immediately once the fourth game came out, and a new job posting published by the developer could point to this.

A job posting published by Hangar 13 on LinkedIn for the executive producer position states that the studio is looking for someone to help develop “an important franchise at Hangar 13,” presumably referring to Mafia. According to the job posting, the candidate will “play an essential role in the successful delivery of a major new title” and post-launch content – and interestingly, “future franchise planning.”

Hangar 13 faced a round of layoffs last May following the cancellation of an unannounced open world title in a new IP, to which reports indicated that the studio was seeking approval for multiple Mafia games to avoid similar problems in the future.

As for Mafia 4 itself, the game is reportedly being built on Unreal Engine 5 and will serve as a prequel to the original Mafia and will be set in Sicily.

There are leaks claiming that Hangar 13 is also working on Top Spin 5, which will be released before Mafia 4.
