Luxury resort chain Soneva has reportedly begun accepting crypto-currency payments at its resorts in the Maldives and Thailand. “Accepting crypto-currencies as a payment method is another example of allowing our international customers to easily make payments anywhere in the world.“
Soneva accepts payments in crypto-currencies.
Soneva has three resorts in the Maldives (Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani and Soneva in Aqua). The company also has a resort in Thailand (Soneva Kiri). Bitcoin and ether can also be used to pay for ownership of Soneva villas.
In order to accept crypto-currencies, Soneva has partnered with two companies: crypto-currency payment solutions provider Triple A and payment platform provider Pomelo Pay. Triple A is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).
Soneva explained that bitcoin and ether payments are 100 percent non-refundable but credits may apply under its flexible cancellation policy. The company’s terms and conditions detail that crypto-currencies will be processed by third parties with their own terms and conditions. “Soneva will only accept and, if applicable, refund crypto-currencies for their USD value at the time of transactions, excluding any additional fees from third parties“, it reads on its website.
Bruce Bromley, CFO of Soneva, notes, “At Soneva, we have always strived to be a pioneer in the hospitality industry.“He adds:
Accepting crypto-currencies as a payment method is another example of allowing our international customers to easily make payments from anywhere in the world.
