The popular Japanese idol group SKE48, headquartered in Nagoya City, has announced its entry into VALORANT with a women’s team consisting of seven members of the group. Miyo Nomura and Yua Kawamura have confirmed their participation in the team, although the full roster has not yet been revealed. In addition, SKE48 will collaborate with local government and tourism organizations to promote e-sports in the city.
Work is already underway to establish a permanent facility dedicated to esports. In addition, the news coincides with the inclusion of esports in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City. In total, tournaments for 11 titles will be held.
This project is linked to Nagoya City’s e-sports strategy and will utilize the community communication power of SKE48 to serve as a new model to simultaneously promote Generation Z culture and regional development.
