As the movement of electric cars continues, Jaguar Land Rover owner Tata has now announced its plans to double down on all things electric. The company has unveiled its intention to open a massive £4 billion battery facility for electric cars in Somerset, UK, which when built will be one of the largest facilities in all of Europe, capable of producing 40GWh, and will also reportedly create around 4,000 jobs.
As reported by the BBC, the plant is considered to be the “most important investment in the British auto industry since Nissan arrived in the 1980s.”
As for what the plant will produce, it will of course make batteries for Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, but it is also claimed to supply other car manufacturers.
The plant is expected to break ground in 2026.
