Intergalactic is unlikely to be shown at The Game Awards – That’s Gaming

Since Naughty Dog in 2020 The Last of Us Part 2 released, fans wondered what the studio would do next (and no, the Remastered version doesn’t count). That answer came during The Game Awards 2024, where Intergalactic, a new sci-fi IP, was announced. With this year’s ceremony approaching, Colin Moriarty of Sacred Symbols reported that he has heard signs that the game is “fixed and content complete.”

“I’m hearing that people are working on the game, and they’re hiring people for localization now. They’re in the final phase, and it’s a sign that everything is pretty much set and content complete. I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out around this time next year,” he said in a podcast with Dan Allen. Moriarty also thought the game would appear at The Game Awards 2025.

However, an appearance at the show and a possible release next year were just speculation. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, who previously reported that Intergalactic would not appear in 2026, reiterated this on Reddit. And no, according to Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb on Twitter, the game is apparently not scheduled for The Game Awards either.

Plans can always change, but given Naughty Dog’s lack of new gameplay or details, we can probably rule it out. Fortunately, Sony has a lot in the pipeline for 2026, from Saros and Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls to Marvel’s Wolverine, so one of those titles could appear instead.

The Game Awards takes place on Dec. 11, and so far Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 the nominations. The game recently won six categories at the Golden Joystick Awards, including Ultimate Game of the Year.
