The partnership between IKEA and Sonos continues, and the SYMFONISK product family gets a new “member” in the form of a floor lamp with integrated speaker. Like the rest of the products in this range, we’re dealing with a 2-in-1 product. On the one hand it has a decorative role, on the other it is practical, as it can illuminate but also provide high quality sound reproduction, benefiting from audio technologies developed by Sonos.
SYMFONISK series grows with a new “member”
Other SYMFONISK product models need to be placed on a flat surface, or be mounted in the wall, but the new lamp has its own stand and can be placed anywhere in the room.
“We’ve learned a lot about how people want to place their sound and lighting equipment. We also know that many people want to have several light sources on different levels and in different parts of the room to create the right atmosphere. The challenge of not having enough space for a table to place the lamp on led us to design the floor-standing lamp.”says Stjepan Begic, Range Design Leader IKEA Sweden.
The lamp provides a warm light and comes with a bamboo shade, which can be exchanged for a different one from IKEA’s offer and is compatible with other lamps in the SYMFONISK series. In terms of sound, the performance should be similar to other loudspeaker lamps on offer. And, like all SYMFONISK products, it can be integrated into a Sonos sound system in the official app, and can even act as a satellite in a surround sound system.
“The SYMFONISK Integrated Speaker Floor Lamp is a great example of how our collaboration continues to take the traditional idea of sound in the home to the next level. We created the floor lamp with speaker to deliver great sound on its own, but also to be versatile. It works perfectly with all of our Sonos speakers and is a great option for those looking to add satellites to their home theater set when the product is paired with our soundbars, such as Ray and Beam.”, says Sara Lincoln, Sonos Principal Product Manager.
Of course, this speaker can also be integrated into the IKEA Home service to create different “scenes” with automation with other compatible devices via the DIRIGERA hub.
The new SYMFONISK lamp will be launched in January 2023, priced at US$259, or local market equivalent.
