The Galaxy S22 series is expected in early February, and in the last few weeks we have learned almost everything about the hardware of the new phones, as well as about the design features of each model. The price is still unknown, although it was previously suggested that it will increase for each variant of S22 by about 100 euros compared to S21. The latest information suggests that we will not have an increase in price, but the Ultra model could be delivered with a more “modest” configuration, at the same price as last year.
According to Roland Quandt, a journalist at WinFuture.de and a “leaker” on Twitter, Samsung will keep the prices in Europe that it also used for the Galaxy S21 range. Thus, the cheapest Galaxy S22 model will start at a price of 849 euros, in a basic configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. Galaxy S22 +, the top model, starts at 1,049 euros, with a similar configuration, while Galaxy S22 Ultra “downgrades” to 8 GB RAM in the basic version, compared to 12 GB last year, at the same price of 1,249 euros .
This is how much the Galaxy S22 phones will cost in all configurations
Galaxy S22
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 849 euros
- 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 899 euros
Galaxy S22 +
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 1,049 euros
- 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 1,099 euros
Galaxy S22 Ultra
- 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 1,249 euros
- 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 1,349 euros
- 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage – 1,449 euros
Interestingly, the base models only come in two storage configurations, with no 512 GB option and only 8 GB of RAM. At the same time, there is no longer an Ultra with 16 GB of RAM, while Samsung does not seem to be moving to 1 TB, as Apple did with the iPhone 13 Pro models.
Whoever said S22 series was to be cheaper, didn’t think of Covid, parts shortages and inflation.
Current official EURO prices:
S22 8 / 128GB = 849
S22 8 / 256GB = 899
S22 + 8 / 128GB = 1049
S22 + 8 / 256GB = 1099
S22 Ultra 8 / 128GB = 1249
S22 Ultra 12 / 256GB = 1349
S22 Ultra 12 / 512GB = 1449 pic.twitter.com/QRnfrhkzTz– Roland Quandt (@rquandt) January 22, 2022
Those who bought a Galaxy S21 Ultra last year for 1,249 euros in a 12 + 128 GB configuration will receive an 8 GB RAM phone this year for the same money. However, the S22 Ultra will be a model with many improvements, from the new processor, which will most likely be an Exynos 2200 in Europe, to the improved cameras and the presence of an integrated S-Pen stylus. S21 Ultra requires the purchase of a separate stylus, which could only be attached to the phone with the help of a case.
