GIANTX wins Madrid’s affection on a historic weekend for European esports

The esports club from Malaga GIANTX has brought home a victory of many carats, first class performances and the affection of thousands of fans who have made of Madrid the European capital of esports for a few days. The ‘LEC Roadtrip‘ powered by Movistar KOIthe entity presided over by Ibai Llanoswas a success with the public and the organization, and GIANTX was the protagonist. If they had beaten the host in the last game, the weekend would have been perfect for the giants. The icing on the cake will have to be put on the return to Berlinwhere it is necessary to win what is left to continue aspiring to the ‘…playoffs‘ of the main league of League of Legends of those played on the continent.

The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC)the most important e-sports championship in Europe, temporarily changed its venue and traveled from Berlin to Madrid. In the capital of Spain, the remarkable moment enjoyed by the Spanish esports community, and League of Legends in particular, was once again confirmed. Nearly 10,000 spectators filled the Madrid Arena during the two days of competition. Fans attended four spectacular duels, all decided on the last map, and different activities for videogame lovers. The event left a very good taste in the mouth. More than a few players, technicians and teams have been calling for more international face-to-face events in Spain.

GIANTX’s intention was to win its two matches against two of the ‘bogeymen’ of the LEC due to their qualifying needs and at the same time demonstrate that it is not by chance that it is one of the oldest clubs in the LEC thanks to its more than 15 years of life and achievements. The support for GIANTX was massive and its fans traveled from different parts of the country to gather in the capital to cheer on their team. Buses departed from Malaga and other cities in Spain. to enjoy the LEC team, which felt good to leave Berlin for a few days. The giants were not able to complete their mission in full, but they did take tons of love from all the esports fans gathered at the Madrid Arena.

On the competitive side, GIANTX kicked off the weekend in the best possible way. Giants beat G2the historical dominator of the league and the most successful organization in European e-sports. GIANTX had never beaten G2, whom they were finally able to beat after a very intense duel that went to three maps and that was also ‘played’ on social networks, with several crosses of statements. There was a desire to beat the samurai, who had never given up a map against GIANTX. Until now.

Lot and Jackies guided GIANTX on the first map, which they dominated thanks to an immeasurable Jax and Yone. In the second, the André Guilhoto jumped into the Rift with a very proactive composition, but fell apart after a promising early game. The third map was crazy. Despite facing an imperial Capsthe best player of all time in Europe, GIANTX was able to turn it around a game that seemed to be decided in favor of G2. The quintet led by Guilhoto did not get carried away and made an unforgettable comeback.

Against KOI, in the last match on Sunday, GIANTX also took the game to the third map, thanks to the fact that they were able to balance the match by a Stellar Tristana in the second. KOI, however, struck the first and last blow.. Guilhoto’s team could not hold their nerve in the decisive moment, despite the fear that reigned in both squads not to fail. Finally, the marquees ratified themselves as the kings of the weekend as hosts of the ‘LEC Roadtrip’ after beating Fnatic the day before. Fnatic took revenge on G2who left Madrid empty-handed.

GIANTX was a top-level contender at the Madrid Arena, but the uneven record of the first matches of the spring season now weighs on the scoreboard. Guilhoto’s side should beat Team BDS next weekend and to Team Heretics to the next to challenge for a top-six finish and a repeat LEC playoff berth. GIANTX is 2-5 in the standings. Worse results than sensations.

Upcoming commitments in LoL and VCT

The calendar does not stop for GIANTX’s professional teams. The LEC will be back next weekend, but there are also League of Legends national and returns the Valorant for the GIANTX women’s team.
