Giant marine animal skull found off British coast -.

The skull of an enormous sea creature has been found near the cliffs of Dorset in the United Kingdom. Don’t worry, the Loch Ness monster not only swam for a long time, we already know the creature this skull belongs to.

The remains are those of a pliosaur, a marine reptile that roamed the seas about 150 million years ago. The fossil is one of the most complete of its kind and is expected to give scientists new insight into this top predator.

“It’s one of the best fossils I’ve ever worked on. What makes it unique is that it is complete”, paleontologist Steve Etches told BBC News. “The lower jaw and upper skull are intertwined, as they would be in life. Worldwide, almost no specimens have ever been found so detailed. And if so, many of the pieces are missing, whereas this, although somewhat distorted, has every bone present.”

The scientist has no doubt that this beast would have been the underwater equivalent of a T-Rex. It apparently had a bite force of about 33,000 newtons, which is double that of a saltwater crocodile.
