MADRID, 11 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Former Colombian soccer player Freddy Rincón, who played for Real Madrid in the 1990s, is in a “critical” condition after suffering a “severe” head injury this Monday in a traffic accident in the city of Cali.
According to the newspaper ‘El Tiempo’, Rincón was involved in an accident in which, according to the authorities, four other people were injured. A video of what happened would show the Colombian skipping a traffic light and crashing into a bus.
The former player was immediately transferred to the hospital where the forecasts about his state of health are very worrying. Rincón had to go urgently through the operating room for “severe head trauma” and “his conditions are critical,” Laureano Quintero, the medical chief of the Imbanaco Clinic, said at a press conference, in statements collected by the Colombian newspaper. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
Real Madrid, where the former international midfielder played in the 1995-1996 season, sent him their best wishes. “From Real Madrid CF, all our strength and love for Freddy Rincón after the accident he suffered today. Much encouragement and our hope that he overcomes this difficult moment soon,” he said in his official ‘Twitter’ profile.
