Florida resident, ultramarathon runner and peace activist Reza ‘Ray’ Baluchi wanted to run from his home state to the city of London. His only problem – the ocean.
Baluchi had a plan to combat this problem in his giant floating hamster wheel. He was caught about 60 miles offshore by local authorities, who said his vehicle was unsafe. Held together by wiring, shackles and a dream, Baluchi said he would injure himself if removed from the hamster wheel.
According to documents, this was at least Baluchi’s fourth attempt to cross the ocean. He was previously apprehended in 2014, 2016 and 2021. He has perseverance, we’ll give him that. Now he faces criminal charges.
Police said it gave Baluchi an outlined set of requirements if he wanted to travel safely and legally in such a vessel again. Not surprisingly, Baluchi ignored these requirements.
