FIA launches worldwide sim racing competition for women



The FIAthe world’s governing body of motor racing, has announced a new racing simulation e-sports competition aimed at women and girls ages 16 and up.
The FIA Girls of Track Esports Cup is organized in partnership with racing simulation equipment manufacturer Advanced SimRacing and the popular racing simulation game iRacing.

As announced by the FIA , any woman or girl over the age of 16 can participate in the competition, regardless of previous eSports experience. To register, participants must register on the FIA website. In addition, an active iRacing account is required to compete.

Online qualifiers for the competition are now officially underway. In the first phase, participants will attempt to set the fastest lap in iRacing Time Attack. The online qualification section will conclude on May 6.

After the first phase, the top 10 will be invited to the 2025 FIA Extraordinary General Assemblies Week 2025 in Macau, which will be held in June. There, the participants will compete in a multi-day in-person final to be crowned champions of the inaugural FIA Girls of Track Esports Cup.

According to the FIA, the 10 finalists will also gain valuable insights into the motorsports industry through media training workshops and networking opportunities.

We know that eSports is the future, but for the discipline to truly grow and develop, we need to encourage more girls and women to participate. We hope this competition will act as a catalyst, encouraging aspiring racers to try our discipline and consider pursuing a career in motorsport.

This is the first time that the FIA’s Girls of Track initiative has been used for esports competitions. Perhaps its most famous project was the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars program, which supported young female drivers over four editions from 2020 to 2023.

The FIA’s decision to launch a dedicated esports competition for women further underscores the governing body’s push into the competitive gaming scene. Late last year, the FIA made headlines by approving the creation of the FIA Esports Code, a regulatory framework to govern sim racing competitions.
