The Esports World Cup Foundation has announced a three-year partnership with video game developer Smilegate for its FPS title Crossfire. As a result of this collaboration, Crossfire to be included in Esports World Cup 2025.an annual event to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The FPS title joins a growing list of video games that will participate in next year’s World Cup. In total, 18 games have been announced, including Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, Call of Duty and Apex Legends. Crossfire to be the second title to debut at Esports World Cup in 2025. Earlier this month, it was announced that Chess would also participate in the event.
Launched in 2007, Crossfire has developed a significant fan base in China. Since 2019, the game has had a franchised esports league in China called CFPL. In addition, the game’s popularity in the country led to the creation of a show/drama called Cross Fire in 2020.
Crossfire recently concluded its world championship earlier this month in Hangzhou. The Chinese organization Evolution Power emerged victorious and took the lion’s share of the $1.4M in prize money. Details of the EWC Crossfire 2025, such as prize money and format, have yet to be announced.
