We all know Emilia Clarke for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, but she was recently recognized for the charity she founded with her mother in 2019 to help and raise awareness of people with brain injuries.
Clarke herself suffered two brain hemorrhages when she was in her 20s before founding the charity. Upon receiving the MBE along with her mother, the actress had the following to say:
“I can say for both of us that the MBE is for cause and charity, and for that it’s bad. For that, it’s great. And who doesn’t want to go to the palace? I asked if I could bring my dog, but apparently that’s not possible”, she told BBC News.
It seems that Clarke and her mother Jenny are receiving the award, it is the first time a mother and daughter have been honored with the same award in the same honor roll. Also for those outside the United Kingdom, an MBE or Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is an award given for ” outstanding achievement or service to the community that has had a long-lasting, significant impact.”
